  Honouring the Past, Engineering for the Future: Exeter Central Station's Cupola Returns Some projects are about far more than replacing what was lost. They are about restoring the identity and character of a building that has become part of a community's heritage. Good Directions was proud to manufacture a bespoke GRP replica of the original cupola for Exeter Central Station on behalf of Network Rail, commissioned by Sisk Rail as part of a wider programme of architectural improvements. Originally opened in 1860, Exeter Central Station was rebuilt in 1933 following a devastating fire that destroyed the earlier Queen Street Station. Its distinctive brick façade and landmark cupola became defining features of the building, but after decades of exposure the original timber structure had deteriorated beyond repair and was removed.
