Large interior clocks manufactured for new 'Daybreak' ITV studios.

Just weeks before the launch of the new and much talked about breakfast TV show ‘Daybreak’ we were approached to manufacture two 4ft clocks to feature in the brand new studios in London. Based on an old style train station clock the simple dial needed to be clear and easy to read with an antique white face in a metallic burnished bronze colour bezel.

  Of course all this was top secret before the show went live on 6th September and we were delighted to receive such a prestigious order. It didn’t give us much time however as they needed the clocks ready for the press launch the week before but working all hours we got the clocks ready on time.

Although simple in design, state of the art technology was used to be sure the clocks would run on time. Obviously with potentially millions of people seeing the clocks every morning they need to be accurate and this is why the most advanced technology was used for our controller to ensure the clocks will be precise at all times. We have various control systems to suit all situations but in this instance our Total Control System was needed to be able to cope with all the background interference typically found in a TV studio and still be able to receive the Atomic time signal.

‘Daybreak’ was launched at 6am Monday 6th September with Adrian Chiles and Christine Bleakley giving a tour of their new studio and making a point of showing off one of their new “very big, retro and easy to read clocks” now in pride of place next to the beautiful back drop of the London skyline directly behind the presenters sofa.

The TV show is now up for a National TV Award so hopefully our clocks will keep viewers on time in the mornings for many years to come.

Two exterior clocks donated as a lasting leaving gift to their school by pupils.

Pupils at a school in Sussex decided that when they left they would like to give a leaving present that was a thank you to the whole school and would also be of use for many years to come. So the year of 2010 all raised money to be able to donate two large exterior clocks and came to us for advice. The pupils chose two 790mm Classic style clocks in dark blue from our range of standard exterior clocks. Gold leafed Arabic numerals were chosen to make the clocks clear and simple to read, then to personalise the clocks it was decided that the school logo would be sign written above the hands and the year 2010 sign written below. Having an in-house sign facility meant we could not only sign write the dials using special 22 carat gold leaf vinyl but even provide a brass plaque with all 52 of the children’s names on it to be fitted beneath one of the clocks, making us a one stop shop for the whole project.
